Hasbro drops scrabulous lawsuit

Hasbro logoThe lawsuit Hasbro have against the makers of the Scrabulous Facebook app (for basically ripping off the Scrabble brand), has been dropped. Earlier this year Hasbro sent a sease and decist letter to the makers of Scrabulous who consequently shut the app down, though the makers did rebel a bit and later changed the name of the application to Wordscraper after the announcement that Hasbro were going to take them to court.

We are not sure why Hasbro have dropped the lawsuit, but we can probably conclude that they got what they set out to do and it was more of a scare tactic.

The majority of users preferred the original version of Scrabulous and preferred it over Hasbros own attempt at a facebook app. The Hasbro version is currently rated 1.3 out of 5!

But the main point is that neither Hasbro of RS Software, the makers of Scrabulous have to go through and expensive court battle.
