Google Maps Goes Even More Mobile
Yes thats right. They have finally caught up with Microsoft’s Live Search for your mobile device. Google’s program is compatible with any Windows Mobile, Palm OS and Blackbury device.
Essentially they are pretty much the same product. They both search for locations, business and landmarks. But, Google has taken some of its new features from the PC version and added them to this mobile edition.
(takesn from the Google Maps Mobile site)
Real-time traffic — See where the congestion is and estimate delays in over 30 major US metropolitan areas.
Detailed directions — Whether you plan to walk or drive, your route is displayed on the map itself, together with step by step directions.
Integrated search results — Local business locations and contact information appear all in one place, integrated on your map.
Maps are easily moved — Interactive maps let you zoom in or out, and move in all directions so that you can orient yourself visually.
Satellite imagery — Get a bird’s eye view of your desired location. (It is like you are there, we swear.)
On top of that they have added some new features to the older version (also taken form their site):
Favourite places and routes — Save time (and avoid sore thumbs) by keeping a list of residential or business locations and driving routes.
Enhanced business info — After selecting a particular business, select the “Details” tab for hours of operation, hotel amenities and more.
BlackBerry support — Just visit www.google.com/gmm on your BlackBerry’s web browser and you are all set to go.
Microsoft does a similar thing but not the real-time traffic info.
If you want to test the system before installing it on your phonce have a look at the emulator.
I personally have both products on my phone and Googles does seem more user friendly but there isnt much difference.

Hi,
Just one quick thing. The Microsoft one DOES do traffic. Just set your country to be United States and it will appear.
